Employment History

2010- I worked for an energy company in Buenos Aires called IBS Cordoba. Here I   helped on projects converting organic waste back into energy.

2009- A month at a Geological Mapping Company called Get Mapping. Working on a number of projects and helping to correct certain software issues.

2008- Working for GGS Spectrum, analysing seismic data received from site operations.

2007- Head of a team of waiters at Henley Royal Regatta and Arts Festival.

2006- 2008-Working at Whitewater Plant Nursery during summer holidays.

2005- Five months in the Product and Sales Department for BMW.

Since University

June- Court Coverer at the Wimbledon Championships for Leisure Support Services.

August- Working for a month at a Geological Mapping Company called Get Mapping. Working on a number of projects including organising competitions to attract customers.

September- 3 months working as a Dealer Payment Processor for BMW, which involved validating the incoming agreements, proofs and ensure payment.

January 2010- I spent 1 month in Seville learning Spanish language and about the history of the city.

February- Went travelling to South America for 4 months, I did expeditions like the Inca trail and experienced the differences in lifestyles and cultures around the continent.

August- I have a month long placement in the Sustainability Department for GlaxoSmithKline.

Skills Profile

Communication- Oral presentations performed in front of peers and lecturers, the use of annotated posters and in a written essay form. An example of this was winning the rights in an example public inquiry to construct a wind farm in a case study based module.

I gained experience in communicating in difficult circumstances whilst working for IBS Cordoba in Argentina, as I did whilst talking to customers at the Plant Nursery and in staff meetings every Monday morning at Get Mapping.

Team Work- Whilst being leader of a team of waiters in the Royal Regatta and Arts Festival in Henley I have learnt a lot of team work and leadership skills. I had to make sure everyone knew what their roles were, keep to a tight schedule and be sure everything went to plan. Working as a court coverer at Wimbledon involved a huge amount of team work to quickly and efficiently perform our task in front of millions of viewers.

Organisation- Organisation skills were crucial whilst collecting data for my dissertation in Scotland. With a limited time to collect all the data needed without assistance from professors.

Travelling tested my organisational skills; I had to prepare a safe trip covering South America and organising work in Argentina. I have learnt how to manage time well and learnt the skills of financial budgeting.

Problem-Solving- One recent problem that I dealt with involved a lack of sales at the plant nursery. After clearing a disused field I reorganised the stock in such a way that it was easier for customers to view specific plants, at the same time this created a healthier environment for the plants with less bunching and more sunlight reaching them.

Analytical- I have experience working with computers. Whist working for BMW and at University I used such programmes as Microsoft Word, Publisher, Powerpoint and Excel, all of which were essential for assessment during my degree. The use of advanced Geological Information Systems was very necessary while working at Get Mapping and IBS Cordoba.

Interpersonal- This was a key part of working at Wimbledon as I was the face of Leisure Support Services, who rely on their reputation and the image their employee’s project to be hired to manage such a prestigious event.

Working closely with customers at the Plant Nursery and working at Henley also gave me a lot of interpersonal skills, as did working in an office environment at Get Mapping.
